Things I will miss about the cell block...

  1. My first group of fifth graders. I can't believe they are going to be in eigth grade next year! They are going to be bad asses but they are still my babies.
  2. My cell mates!
  3. Chicken Rico & Pasta Mias
  4. Trips to Santonis during resource
  5. Having a co-teacher & good friend in the classroom with me.

215

Someone asked me why I was going to be at a new school next year and I realized that I didn't actually tell most people. I guess I didn't want to talk about it because I really didn't know how I felt about it. There are some things (and many people) that I will miss at #215 :(

As with all happenings in the cell block there was much drama and many memos associated with this event. I will try to spare you the gory details. My principal first told me that because I was not certified for Kindergarten that there would not be a place for me at Highlandtown next year. When I asked about a different grade she said that she didn't think that would be possible because with our smaller student population she would be losing teachers. Cassidy and I braved the job fair and it was scary but we were both hired! I was even home in time to have crabs for dinner! My new school is Dr. Bernard Harris Elementary. I will be teaching either first or second grade depending upon where the principal has to move other teachers.

When I came back from the job fair Ms. Fagan expressed some surprise that I had taken a position so quickly. She then mentioned that she wished I had considered taking her teaching position. Apparently she thought that I had turned her down for a fifth grade position. This was probably one of her many back peddles where she changed what she was saying many times over. I am glad that she didn't offer me the choice because I may have chickened out and taken it even though fifth grade gives my ulcers and anxiety attacks. I have no desire to go back to my old position and am really happy about my new school. Many people have told me great things about it and I can't wait to see what it is all about.

Bottom line: I have a new school and I am happy!

Almost the end..

It is almost the end of the school year. I personally cannot wait for this year to end. Something about being told that I was no longer needed or wanted makes me want to be done. I am excited about summer. We are taking Christian to Disney for the first time. We are hosting a foreign exchange student for the first time. I am keeping the house clean for the entire summer for the first time. (Well maybe 2 out of 3 won't be that bad...)

April is...stressed and frustrated!

Can I just say that I *heart* facebook!?! It can keep me entertained for hours!
Kindergarten graduation is tomorrow and I do not feel ready at all. I am currently attempting to install Microsoft Office on my laptop so that I can try and create banners to hang. I still haven't figured out why I am stressing about it at all. After all its not like I am trying to impress my principal for next year or anything! In fact this week my motto has become, "What are they going to do? Fire me?" Hah! Anyways Microsoft Office does not have Publisher which is what I need to make banners. So now I am downloading a free trial of Publisher and praying that it works. It seems to be but I am not counting my chickens before they are hatched! I have to make three or four different banners for a 45 minute graduation... again I ask myself why? But I really don't know!

I am really looking forward to lunch after graduation. I wish Tim could go to lunch. He has been my savior this week. (Him and my mom who watched Christian when I needed to go to the chiropractor twice!) He took care of Christian while my shoulder was hurt and he is keeping him occupied while I blog and make banners. He is even taking off work tomorrow to help with set up!
