I am not going to school tomorrow so for me it is officially the weekend! I am very excited about this and cannot wait to sleep in tomorrow morning! I have to go to the doctors tomorrow at 11 and have two ingrown toenails fixed. (Doesn't that sound like fun!) But the doctor promised that it takes almost no time to have done and that I will be fine to eat lunch with Laura, Nina, and Jen!
P.S. I am very excited that I get to see Nina.

I want to eat veggies...
I am trying so hard to eat healthy for Christian! It really frustrates me that just the thought of vegetables makes me sick to my stomach. I made veggies tonight to eat with our burritos and Tim is currently eating mine because just the smell makes me gag.
On a brighter note I LOVE my new toothbrush apparently pregnant women have very sensitive gums. I bought an extra soft tooth brush and my mouth is super happy!
On a completely different note I am growing a marigold. Not a garden... just one marigold. Tim and I both know it is all that I can handle without killing everything. But look how well it is doing!
I know it is hard to see but there are two buds on it!
That is all for tonight Tim and I have to go talk about paying off student loans... oh the joy.
Lucy, Lucy, Lucy

Did you think I would talk about my whole weekend and not mention this beautiful child?? No way! I just thought she deserved hew own post!
It is safe for me to say this because Christian is not here yet... Lucy is the sweetest most adorable baby that I have ever met! I choose this picture from Laura's blog because this is the way that she looked all weekend! She loves to keep that one little hand up by her head! This weekend she seemed to master putting her hand in her mouth... which was very exciting for everyone involved!
I was able to spend a large amount of time cuddling and talking to this little girl all weekend and it was the best!! Tim summed it when he said"she is a really cute baby... and for me to say that it means she is REALLY cute!" This is the truth because Tim does not comment on babies....
I am so excited that the Cookes are headed back to Havre de Grace this weekend. I know that Grandma Jen gets the majority of Lucy attention but I am hoping to stop in and say hello. I'll distract Laura while Lucy and Grandma have their time together!
What a wonderful weekend!
We started our weekend off with a very productive morning on Saturday! I was actually out of bed and cleaning the kitchen at 8:00 a.m.!! By the time Tim woke up I had finished the kitchen AND the living room! Tim agreed to swiffer the kitchen so I went about gathering up unwanted books for the bookthing (http://www.bookthing.org/) which is a place where people can go to get books for free. I took advantage of it all summer long and got tons of books for my classroom! After I gather up all of our books that needed a new home I cleaned up the bedroom. I still managed to get in a shower before it was time to leave for Frostburg!
We dropped the books off at the book thing and headed west! We made quite a few stops along the way including one McDonalds trip that took way too long (we didn't realize that Fruit and Yogurt Parfaits take an hour to make) We stopped at the outlets in Hagerstown because I wanted a pair of Crocs from the LL Bean store, but they didn't have them :( We made it to Frostburg before dark and had a wonderful dinner of chicken and rice pilaf! The boys spent most of the night playing the Wii. I am glad that Andrew got to try out so many games.... I am pretty sure he found a few that he liked. Laura and I spent the evening staring at Miss Lucy and doing other assorted things...
On Sunday we went to mass and then headed over to the mall. We had really good pizza and the place had good iced tea so I was very content. I found Crocs at hallmark but thought they were uncomfortable and refused to buy them. I also looked for a CD at FYE but the didn't have it :( I was very frustrated so Tim bought me over priced lotion from Bath & Body Works. After that we went to Blockbuster and rented movies. We rented Alpha Dog (didn't get to watch it...see Laura's blog for a review!), Fast and the Furious 3, and some other movie... I'll try to fill the name in later.
Laura & the boys watched the movie that was about someone pretending to be a reporter from Kasikstan. He was doing anything and everything that was socially or culturally inappropriate in order to be funny. I didn't watch this one.... I read a Parents magazine and then I did the dishes!
After that we went to this really yummy steakhouse for dinner. I had pulled pork BBQ and it was wonderful!! We got to ride in the Saturn with Lucy which was very amusing... I don't think she is used to company in the back seat!
After dinner the boys and I watched Fast and the Furious 3 while Lucy and her mama headed to bed. I actually like the movie! It was better than the second movie and the drifting was actually pretty cool to watch! After the movie we went to bed because it was late and we were all very sleepy!
We slept in a bit on Monday and then headed home. We stopped in Hagerstown again. We went to Pacific Sunwear, Motherhood, Adidas, Puma, and quite a few other stores. We didn't really buy that much though... we got Christian a pair of pants, Tim a pair of sandals, and Tim a pair of socks (he was trying on sneakers!) I didn't find anything but Tim didn't seem to think this was a problem since I always find something to buy! He is probably right....
I took a nap when we got home and Tim played some Zelda on the Wii. We went to the grocery store and ordered Pizza Hut for dinner. We rented Over the Hedge from RedBox and it was really funny and very cute! I also got to watch an episode of Grey's Anatomy on my laptop. I only have two more episodes to watch and I will have seen the whole season. So don't spoil it for me... I am almost there! Then it was time for bed because the next day was back to work.....

There are no black snakes in Forstburg...
I think I am staying here until Mr. Black Snake is gone. Someone should send word of his death so that I come back. Tim and I are going to stop at the Hagerstown Prime Outlets on the way back. We stopped on the way up, but we only went to the LL Bean store. I wanted a pair of shoes. They didn't have them. I need to find them but I don't want to buy them online because I won't know which size to get. Andrew is saying that there is a Shoe Store up here that might have them. I may try there..... if not i am going to walk around barefoot.
Apparently the comment thing is working...
I have learned that Nina reads my blog... and Laura believes that her little niece will have three heads. Maybe that is an odd way of saying she will be really smart! We are at Andrew & Laura's right now. Lucy is snoring, Laura is eating waffles, and Tim & Andrew are discussing the Wii. Oh scratch that Tim has taken over the Wii because Andrew got yelled at to eat his waffles. We are going to mass at 11 and then we are going to Canal Place which sounds like lots of fun!

I just applied to adopt four soliders!
There are lots of things associated with our military and government that I may not agree with, but there is one thing that I know for sure! There are men and women all over this world that are giving their lives so that I can be safe. Honestly I do not know how I feel about war because it is a very complicated thing to "choose" a side. So I have decided that instead of choosing a side I will just support the soldiers who are risking their lives everyday. I went to http://adoptaplatoon.org/new/index.htm which allowed me to sign up to adopt four soldiers. From what I can tell that means that I send care packages and letters to them. I think it will be a great experience for my students during the school year, and I know that my family will help me out with it during the summer. During the school year I plan to have the kids help get the care packages together, write letters, make crafts, and hopefully learn something about the war in the process. During the summer I will enlist the support of anyone I can get my hands on to keep up the care packages and I will write letters on my own! So once I get things rolling I may ask you (all four of you that read this that is) to help me out!
So needless to say I am VERY excited about this new project. I hope they do not take too long to accept my application. It is probably a good thing that I am starting it now for next school year. If I am lucky I should have everything organized by the time I get back to school and the kids can dive in!

Blog Issues...
I cannot figure out how to add a picture to my profile. It allowed me to add a picture, but it will not let me add one to my profile. This is really starting to bother me... I used to be good at this kind of stuff.
I am looking for more blogs to read. Especially blogs of new teachers or new mommies or new teachers that are also new mommies!!! (Is there anyone else in this world as crazy as me? I doubt it... I'll settle for one of the two!) It really doesn't have to be new mommies or new teachers I guess because experience is always helpful! I would love any suggestions you have!

Last Note for the Day...
Class is starting soon and I need to go eat some Easy Mac so that Chris and I can make it through class. Just wanted to let everyone know that tomorrow is "Mayz Dayz" not really sure where the name came from but we will be doing standardized testing from 8:30 - 10:30 and then heading to the park for field day! I haven't decided how I feel about this.... as you may know I am not an "outside" person and prefer to stay in with a book when given the chance. My kids love to play and they love the park so we will see how it goes...
Lucy is the cutest baby ever!
Lucy is the cutest baby ever and I cannot wait to meet her this weekend!

The Tale of April and the Snake (The Next Little Golden Book??)
Someone new has moved into the neighborhood and he is NOT my friend. Friday afternoon I came home all excited to have the rest of the afternoon ahead of me to relax. I was greeted at the door by the cat going insane as usual. I didn't really think anything of it until I heard my neighbor Christina's dog barking. Then I heard to women screaming.... I decided that I should probably check this out and looked out the door to the deck.
I was greeted with the very comical picture of Christina standing on a chair throwing white landscaping stones into her yard. My other neighbor Deb was standing on the deck next to mine jumping up and down screaming. I soon joined them when I realized that a four foot black snake was slithering its way towards my deck! I am really not a fan of snakes and wanted to run for the hills...but I thought better of it since the snake was headed for MY house. Christina continued to keep the sake in the back of the yard while our other neighbor (yes this was turning into a community wide event) went a got a shovel to chase the snake away with.
Animal lover that I am I voted for beheading as punishment for entering my yard. Unfortunately Frank said that he was a good snake that ate rodents. So the snakes life was spared and Frank threw him back into the woods. Frank and Deb returned to their homes and after much discussion about how we detested snakes Christina and I did the same. We thought the problem was solved...
Apparently, the snake realized that I was the one out for the death penalty and decided to give me a scare of my own. The next morning I was leaving the house to go to Tae Kwon Do when I happened to look down and realize that I was stepping OVER my new friend Mr. Black Snake. My hands were full because I was attempting to carry breakfast and my purse out of the house so all I could do was scream and run. My neighbor Deb was in her front yard and came running over because she thought that I had gone into labor! I screamed for Deb to look at the front porch at which point she joined me in screaming and jumping up and down. This time we didn't have Frank to save us and the only man in the court thought the snake was cool. (This was not a helpful assessment in case you are wondering.) The snake finally got sick of hearing us scream and slithered off into a garden at which point I told Deb the snakes days were numbered and I left for Tae Kwon Do.
Tim had to convince me to come back to the house because I was afraid the snake would make another appearance. (He didn't) When I came into the house I realized that the door was not latched/locked all of the way and I became convinced that the snake had found a way into the house. Tim promises me that this is not the case but I am still not sure....
On a side note Christina went on a retreat this weekend. She spoke with a wildlife expert of some sort and they said that the snake did need to go because in addition to biting people it is a constrictor.
That pretty much made it a done deal for me. Tim had today off and I made him spend most of it looking for the snake. I want it out of here!!!!!
P.S. I apologize to animal lovers everywhere I am usually right there with you, but with this snake its personal. (I am pretty sure he has it out for me)

The Spelling Bee

A Very Grumpy Day
I started today off on the wrong foot and never quite made it to the correct one... I was grumpy with Tim and still need to make it up to him and now I have class and all I want to do is sleep! My kids were good for me... I never know what happens to them when they are with others... all of the monsters seem to come out of the closet. The poor gym teacher was supposed to do a lesson on street safety and bike safety. The kids love this part of the year because they get to ride bikes..... or at least all of the other kids in the school got to ride bikes. My lovely darling couldn't keep their mouths closed long enough to make it through the lesson on crossing the street! So needless to say they did not get to ride the bikes which made them very grumpy. I was really upset with them and wouldn't let them go outside after lunch ..... which made them even more grumpy. Me being the mean pregnant teacher that I am could have cared less and contemplated not allowing them to watch the school spelling bee. Since I was in charge of the spelling bee I gave in and let them watch... more on the spelling bee later.

Dates and Numbers...
You are 197 days pregnant.
You are 6.5 months pregnant.
You are in your 7th month of pregnancy.
No wonder I never know how to answer people when they ask me how far along I am.....

People to Read My Blog
Well I just sent out an announcement about my new Internet endeavor so hopefully someone will come and read this.... or if not at least I will THINK that someone is reading it. I am in a room with fifth graders all day.... I am used to feeling like I am talking to myself!
I think I will ask Tim to put a link to my blog on his my space page. That way maybe some bored people from there will come and read as well! But now I am off to my doctor's appointment! I am officially 28 weeks pregnant which means I only have 12 more weeks to go until I get to meet Christian!

Family Pictures
My stomach is getting rather big so I thought some photo journalism might be in order. Tim even learned how to use the timer on my camera so that we could have a picture together!

Daddy also posed for his first picture with his son!
Everyone is doing it....
It seems that everyone has a blog these days.... I had one which I was very loyal to for many years, but that was a long time ago. I am thinking that between being pregnant, a 5th grade teacher, and a wife I should have a lot to write about. We shall see...
